designing personal development plans

A managers and team leaders skills training course

During this course the experiences, purpose and benefits of personal development planning are discussed and explored from both the team leader and team members perspectives. The reasons for these experiences and perspectives are discussed, any differences and similarities are reviewed and the benefits of everyone agreeing to the purpose and benefits of personal development plans are explored. The skills required to design effective personal development plans are discussed, the left brain/right brain concept is introduced and the impact of this on designing development plans is highlighted.

Different learning styles are discussed with delegates thinking about their own learning style and the impact of this on both their development and how they support the development of their teams. The ©W6W model for designing effective personal development plans is introduced and best practice at each stage is discussed. Techniques and ideas for writing effective development plans are discussed and delegates practice writing a personal development plan which is then debriefed and reviewed by one of their colleagues. This exercise is fully debriefed.

The course finishes with delegates reviewing their learning, creating an individual personal development plan and taking a learning evaluation assessment.
