Every day we use thousands and thousands of words speaking to both ourselves and to other people. Yet how often do we actually think about the words that we actually use. Without knowing what words we do use, we might well be limiting our chances of success!
Language and words
As human beings we are creatures of habit and often feel comfortable in the things that we know. However these words might not be the most appropriate and as mentioned the words that we habitually use might actually be limiting our chances of success, our career development plans, our personal performance and our ability to communicate in the most effective way.The words that you use can either be supportive or destructive. You are what you say and what you eat!We often say things without thinking and have a natural language and vocabulary that we use all the time.
Some of these words and phrases are positive such as:
- We can
- We will
- We must
- When we
- This will mean that
- I am convinced that
Some of these words and phrases are negative such as:
- It may be that
- We might
- it is possible that
- There is a chance that
- If we do this then
The words that you use in every day communication with both yourself and other people will create a stage and environment that is either positive and supportive or negative and destructive to other people. This will have an impact on yourself, on customers, on your team members, on your family and loved ones, on clients and on everyone with whom you communicate with.
Create a positive vocabulary
Some words are very powerful and illicit positive action, some don't. Some words motivate and others don't. Yet in such an important area as communication rarely do people think about the actual words that they use. This is so important though, as these words create an impression and environment that will either help or hinder us.
This is often an area that is completely missed yet is fundamental in people focused businesses.
The positive impact that this will make will astound you!
